Horribly painful twist to add into the scenario, though it does fall victim to the zombie movie curse of stumbling, lurching, slow-motion, half-brain-dead zombies somehow evading shots at near point blank range and still scoring a hit (bite) an agile person would struggle to do on a good day. (Really, ever tried to bite someone and really break the skin?)
