Adventurers Need Not Apply.
I didn’t mean to laugh, but squandering vacation time to go “find ourselves” was typical Mina. I’d rather find myself knee deep in a Twin Peaks marathon instead of traipsing through some hillbilly infested woods. I’ve seen Deliverance.
I was surprised when Allison agreed to go. Roughing it for her was going to the Drive-In after the concession stand had closed. Besides, a week away might do our relationship some good.
Marie felt bad for telling Mina no. Somehow I got wrangled into helping Marie put together a care package for the crew of the SS Overly Ambitious so that as they boldly went where no one else wanted to go they wouldn’t feel like we had completely abandoned them.
We saw them off on Friday morning, early Friday… really early. Half asleep and hungover I barely remember kissing Allison goodbye, and sheepishly watching Mina cry tears of joy over the compass that Marie and I bought her. I couldn’t wait to get home and go back to sleep. After all they’d only be gone a week.
