Ficlets

Nonfiction: Worried for Ficlets's Future—domain name expiration date approaches on 10/31

I’m worried about Ficlets.com’s future.

When I do a whois, I find that the domain is still listed as registered in Kevin Lawver’s name, and set to expire on October 31st of this year.

If nobody there even seems to know Ficlets exists, what are the chances the domain name will be renewed?

How are we going to keep the site going without an administrator?

The contact information listed in the WHOIS is:

Kevin Lawver kplawver@aol.com
AOL LLC
22022 Boxcar Square
Sterling, VA 20166

(Phone number deleted as it may be Kevin’s home or cell number rather than AoL’s.)

We know Kevin doesn’t work there anymore, but hopefully we can reach someone who will have some idea what we’re talking about and will be willing to take some responsibility for the site. After all, it’s a novel technology, it’s still thriving, it’s got decent traffic; it should be just the kind of thing AOL wants to promote.

Let’s call in (those of us in the USA , at least) and try to save our site. Comment or follow up with any results.
