Residing Dreams (Chapter 51)
I will never forget the day when the contest was announced. My teacher at the time, Mrs. Hemmingway, had said she had an important announcement to make,to anyone who was interested. She started out by saying,”Class, I know there are very many of you in this room who have amazing creative abilities.”Though she seemed to be talking to the class in general,I couldn’t help but notice a twinkle in her eye as she looked in my direction.Everyone else looked at me too.I glaced at January, who was sitting to the right of me, her expression calm, serene, and curious. “The parish down the street from us, St. Agnes, has announced that there will be a poster contest. to those of you who would like to participate, you will design a poster encompasing the elements of Christian behavior, fellowship, piety, fidelity, spirituality and so on. All of these and more are important virtues that must be stressed in the poster, and the contest is open to all religious and/or private schools, for children in grades 4 through 12.”
