Crap we left the door open Gina thought. Then the footsteps continued but they were coming towards the open door. Channing looked at Gina with wide eyes. Gina just put her finger to her lip in the be quiet signal. Channing nodded. The sound of Gina’s mom climbing the stairs echoed through the attic. Gina held her breath as her mom stepped into the attic and began looking around. We are in so much trouble Gina thought. Her mom began walking over torwards her and Chaning’s hiding spot when the doorbell rang. Her mom looked around once more then shrugged and went to answer it. Gina gave a big sigh of relief and looked over at Channing. He was grinning and held a little scrap of paper in his right hand and his phone in his left. Gina smiled.
“You found the missing piece!” she excliamed as Jason was walking over.
“Yep”he replied
“Where did you find it?” Jason asked.
“It was under the chest” Channing told them.
“Great now let’s get out of here before my mom comes back” Gina suggested.
