Ficlets

Definately not a metaphor.

Once upon a time there was a man living in the US He was going through a mid life crisis. He lost his job and his girlfriend, so he decided to spice things up and move to a small town in South America west of the Amazon Forest. It wasn’t an easy change but he managed. He got a job as a carpenter. One day he heard rumors from a rich, foreign man about a legendary city with gold houses that can hold 144,000 people and have giant angel statues holding flaming swords: El Dorado. Only one person ever found it, “Papa” Juan Paulo, who was a hero of the town who wore a ruby necklace worth millions. Our hero looked to be the second to find it. As he left on his journey, his girlfriend called from the US. She wanted him back and promised to get his job back. He shrugged her off and left. He looked for the rest of his life, and all he found was a corpse, rotten, wearing a dull red necklace. Our her saw it as a reminant of El Dorado and continued on. Far away from all humanity, his last words were ‘Just a bit farther.’
