The Welcomed Fear
It was early in the morning and the violent rain had stopped pounding on the windows. As Bethany looked at her alarm clock that read 3:30 AM, she fought with her eyelids to go back to sleep. In just a few hours her day would begin. She didn’t want to get out of bed; her limbs becoming cement. She was frightened of what laid ahead. She felt weak and powerless against the world. Yet, as dawn began to settle in, opening her blinds that hid the world, Bethany saw that there was a beautiful sun shining on the day that was yet to come. There is always a calm after the storm- not just before. If a massive storm can hit and the remains can still look intact, then anyone and anything can overcome every obstacle. Bethany started to feel safe again. She wanted to embrace the world, but did not know how. As she inhaled and stood admiring the world, she began to prepare herself. She was frightened of the unknowns, of the knowns, and the in-betweens. But with the sun, today would be different.
