Hadron Incident: The White Room

The White Room was cold in every aspect. The temperature was well below room-temp, and the spartan furnishing and lack of any decor made the room laboratory in nature.
Vahl was the sole investigator with two of his country-men standing as sentinels at the door. There was no mirror. Nothing to drink. The walls, floor – even the table and chairs were white.
“Who are we?” Bill was exasperated.
“I do not know who you are,” Vahl’s mouth twisted with annoyance, “Do you not know who you are?”
“Yes. I am Bill Stronarck, and this is Conrad Reyes – we are from England, and recently involved in the Large Hadron Collider project in Geneva,”
Vahl was silent as he considered the information, and shook his head, “I do not know of this Geneva. Where is it? Kaldon Province?”
“No,” Dr. Reyes shook his head, “You see, where we are from, there IS no Kaldon province.”
“You are perplexing like Kaldons,” Vahl said, factly.
“What is this place?”
“Varresh,” Vahl said.
“Yes yes, I know Varresh.”
“But you do not know Kaldon?”
