Wendy & Charlie's future pt2

Go? I wondered silently, I had nowhere else to go. As it was at that point, Charlie was my life.
Charlie echoed my thoughts, “Where are we supposed to go, Mother?” he asked.
Mrs. Cooper disappeared leaving Charlie and I perplexed and in suspense. When she returned, she handed Charlie a wad of bills.
“Take it. There’s around $3000 there. That should be enough for you to go West,”
Charlie’s face twisted, “No, Mother. There is no way we can go there…”
“There is a way, and you will! Go see Marcus; he will know what to do.” Mrs. Cooper said.
I did what I did best; I remained silent and observant.
Mrs. Cooper continued, “Marcus will be able to hide you both, and he may be able to give you a life,”
“I’d hoped never to see him again, Mother. He’s not a nice man, not at all!” he said.
“And between the two of you, you’ve committed murder!” Mrs. Cooper’s words were like daggers; but I felt no guilt, “I wouldn’t be so quick to judge! Now, you are a good boy, but your talents have grown to big for this town,”
