Is she unborn? Perhaps still with the memories of a previous life? Or am I reading too much into it?

She just lives in a crappy monarchical civilization, possibly somewhere in medieval Europe.

What they really need is a peasant revolt, or a plague to kick them into Renaissance.

Then she’ll feel better, especially if they let her go to school.

The first paragraph reminds me of ‘doublethink’. This entire piece has this dark, lulling power to it. Nice.

Lovely train of thought. Although her world seems very dark, you can’t help but feel the small glimmer of hope coming from her small frame… Hurrah for playing with people’s imaginations!

The rhythm of your words here is really quite lovely. Music-Hearted is right to say there’s a lulling quality to this, which makes it seem like a well-read fairy tale. Nicely done.
