Flushing, New York - Part II
Just then I heard a branch crack behind me. I whirled around zipping my eyes every which way.
Something was out there.
Bit by bit, I turned my attention back to the dim light above the door. I stepped cautiously over every branch so as to not alert the attention of the thing that was out there.
Finally out of the woods I trotted the rest of the way to the door, holding my sides all the way. In such haste, I did not bother to turn on the light, and just ran into a nearby stall. I shut my eyes to keep out the grossness of public stalls. Something you could never avoid. It was like the epitome of dirty diaper stench. I washed my hands and quickly started to leave. I whirled around as I saw a figure sweep across the empty bathroom.
I stood there staring into the darkness until my eyes started to water.
But nothing was there. I shook the feeling and left the bathroom. I stood on that step in a stance. One – Two – Three – Go!
But I didn’t go.
