Two To Argue
Alex startled Chloe and she gazed at him with sad eyes. “I’m still hurting you?â? she whispered. He didn’t reply. “I … didn’t know that—“
“You knew all right!â? Alex screamed. “You knew what you were doing this entire time!â? For some reason, the principal didn’t stop their argument.
Chloe stood up. “Okay, so what if I knew?! What if I knew I was causing you pain because of how you feel?! Yeah, I knew!”
Alex flinched at the pain in her voice; it was undisguised.
“I knew what I was doing when I ditched you on Halloween to go to that party! Okay? I’ll admit it! But I never thought that I was going to go through what I did with Jay!”
She wiped at the tears now rolling down her face.
“Would you know that someone had planned to randomly torment you for fun?! Would you ever suspect your date didn’t really have the intentions you thought?! Then again, I guess all guys only want one thing.â?
Chloe sprinted from the room after her speech, leaving behind one shocked principal and a smug but sad boy in love.
