Tonight
I sighed, stepping out onto the porch of the hotel room overlooking the beach. She was gazing into the vastness of the ocean, taking in the sight of the evening horizon. Though the sun did not shine through the clouds, the horizon was comforting to watch, and lifted the stress of a hard day’s work.
I approached her, but did not stir her peacefulness, only taking in her beauty. Though I’d become accustomed to seeing her often, I remembered the turmoil my heart went through the first time we had met in the airport of her city. I smiled, slowly allowing the feeling of nostalgia to overtake me. I crept up and wrapped my arms around her waist from behind.
She sighed in content and leaned back against my shoulder.
“Hey sweetie.” I said softly, kissing her hair.
She turned around to face me and wrapped her arms around me.
“Love?”
“Hmm?”
“Do you know what today is?”
“Mm yes I do, sweetie.”
“I can’t believe we’ve been together for four years now…”
She smiled up at me, and leaned in for a kiss.
