Into the Dark Place
She turned, and entered the dark place. She spun on her right heel, and it closed round her, like burying her face in her mother’s velvet skirt, warm and smooth.
It was but a trifling matter now to step inside and move in just such a way that in a flash she had disappeared- if anyone had cared to be looking at her to begin with. But they hadn’t, and so her departure went unnoticed.
