Remembering Paige
Paige walked away, I missed the reason why. As soon as she was out of hearing range though, Angela said, “God, her life sucks.”
My head snapped up in surprise. Call me selfish, but I kinda felt like the person who should be pittied was me. Not that I was looking for it, it was just a weird thing for Angela to say. Also, she was glaring at me as though it was my fault, which was kinda weird.
“Um,” I said, ingeniously.
“Do me a favor and try not to like, kill her, okay? It’s hard enough as it is,” Angela sighed and shook her head, looking down at the table. “I bet you don’t even know anything about her.”
“Yes I do,” I argued, unable to contain myself, “She told me about her… family.”
“Drew,” Angela rolled her eyes, “Just taking what she says isn’t exactly enough. I’m guessing you haven’t noticed that she automatically shys away from guys have you? Even you, I bet. When, exactly, did she trust you enough to tell you about her damn father?”
I stared at the table, blushing, “Tonight.”
