The Meaning of Forever

I think I can honestly say that I’ve seen the sun set more times than anyone else on the planet.

I sat on the hill with all the happy couples that wouldn’t last and watched it set once more. Its dying rays broke through the clouds, casting golden light over everything. A glimpse of heaven. An image of the great beyond.

The myths say we can’t survive in sunlight, but they’re wrong. We can survive; It’s just not exactly pleasant. Direct sunlight is worst.

So why do I endure the pain that is the sun, you ask? I endure it to remind myself of what I once was. Of the time when I could feel, when I physically had to breathe. The time I didn’t appreciate when I had it. That is why I sit in the sun and imagine myself burning.

Robert Frost had miles to go before he slept.

I have an eternity.
