no I believe drugged himself, or lost too much blood, but rested is not the term! besides, if it were me, I’d not stop to contemplate how a person could do this, I’d take action!

Elsha, she’s kind of frozen because she’s so shocked. And not well rested is almost used in a sort of ironic sense. she knows he’s passed out because he hurt himself, and she’s saying how it looks like he’s sleepy and what not. However, by saying that he is not well rested, she is alluding to the fact that she knows he isn’t comfortable and strong.
