Waiting For Things to Make Sense
Perry blinked. Several shivers took the opportunity to roll down his spine. The secertary was back at work, a small smile still etched in her features.
Making his way down the hall, Perry passed a few frosted glass doors before reaching the elevators. As he waited, he watched the hall, scanning over a few abstract paintings. A door opened silently, stayed frozen for a moment, then shut with the same shush of air and nothing else.
Perry turned back to the elevator. It opened smoothly, but Perry stopped dead in his tracks when something brushed against his leg.
“Well, are you getting on or not?” asked a voice from the empty space inside the elevator. Perry shuffled in and backed against the wall.
“Can you hit floor 22 for me?”
Perry stared at the nothingness that kept speaking, and slowly nodded, then punched the floor 22 button and found the one for negative 7 as well.
The elevator dropped in just a few seconds. The doors yawned opened and Perry stepped out.
“See ya,” said nothing.
