Misbehavior

I cough to hide my laugh as Ryan asks yet another question. Two seats over, another girl isn’t quite as subtle. She giggles a moment, before smothering the sound with one hand. Fortunately, the teacher doesn’t notice, and begins on another long-winded explanation.
I glance at the clock. Seven minutes to go. Beside me, Alex grins at me. “Seven minutes,” he mutters, so low only I can hear.
“I know.” I suppress another laugh. We have a test today that almost none of us had studied for. We are trying to waste away class time asking questions, and it’s working. Ordinarily, I wouldn’t condone this kind of behavior, but I hadn’t studied either.
Mike turns in his chair and drops his hands below his desk to give me a double thumbs up. I have to work not to laugh again. Finishing his explanation, the teacher glances at the clock. “Okay, we’ll take the test tomorrow,” he sighs.
Victorious, we all flashed huge grins at each other. “Yes!” Alex whispers. I grin back conspiratorially as the bell rings.
