my families old homestead is built on the site of the battle of silver run where andrew jackson killed a small group of english on his way to the battle of new orleans. Legend has it that he knew the war was over because of a messenger that been dispatched but he still wanted to fight so he murdered the messengers and traveled on to new orleans.

Chilling little tale. It’s a great stand-alone piece and this line really resonated with me for some reason:
Even though any normal person would shudder in fear, Bubba watched the scene unfold like a saturday morning cartoon.
