The Hearing
At her trial the old lady’s public defender waivered reading of the charges, and stated that his client is entering an admission of guilt and want to forego the trial and go straight to sentencing. The judge is totally baffled, and ask the old lady to explain. She says “your honor, please sentence me and then I will tell the whole court and society why I have done what I have done.” The judge sentences her to life in minimum security prison. She begins her tale: I killed the man because he is a child sex molester that I have known for years, I killed him to do society a favor by getting him off the streets. I also killed and admitted guilt as to save taxpayers thousands of dollars and to give this public defender some practice. I want to go to jail because in there I know I will be taken cared of. I will have shelter, food, heat, air conditioning, socializing, books, tv and health services, people can still visit me and I can still call them. I cannot afford my life anymore. Isn’t justice sweet?
