Flashback
I still remember that night.
“Seriously, Jade?” She stared at herself in the mirror. “I don’t know about this.”
I smiled. “You look awesome, and you know it.”
She smiled back at me. “Thanks.” She said shyly.
“Purse your mouth like this-” I showed her how. “-and let me fix your lipstick.” She did as I told her: she trusted me completely. She looked up to me. “Perfect.” I said after I had finish carefully dabbing her lips with a tissue.
She had on my skirt, because she hadn’t had any. I had cut her tee-shirt because it had been to small on me when i borrowed it, but it worked well with a camisole underneath. My favorite red pumps and her hair down.
“Thanks sis. I don’t know what I’d do without you.” She grinned, and I laughed.
“You’d be fine.” A car horn honked. “Ready?”
“Ready.” I walked to the top of the stairs, and she continued down them, out the door to the truck. I waved silently, even though she couldn’t see me. As the truck pulled away, I couldn’t help feeling like I was loosing my little sister.
