Glass Shards

Heh, best friends.

It doesn’t matter whether they’re guys or girls, they end up doing the same thing.

They leave.

It can be intentionally, unintentionally, purposefully, harmfully, and anything else you can think of; the end result is still the same.

You are the one ending up hurt, and most of the time, there’s no one there to put the pieces back together again.

“Hey, Kayley…will you be my friend forever?”

I slammed my door shut – no one was home but me. Mom was out at work, and dad’s never home. So, who cared if I mowed down the door with a chainsaw?

I slumped against the wall, the acrid taste of vomit still fresh on my tongue.

I leaned over, resting my forehead on my knees as the tears started to forge their way down my cheeks.

“I’ll always stay with you, Kayley.”

Ha, this is turning into a soap opera.

Such stupid promises.

No one should promise such impossible things.

It’s not your fault. It’s his. It’s okay you didn’t tell him sooner.

I had to convince myself.

Not my fault.
