Every Thing is Bizarre

Sitting in the car, waiting for Denny and Marilyn, I looked around; this didn’t look like a borrowed car. The fuzzy dice hanging from the rearview mirror was a little much. Everything was retro. The cars, the suits; it was like I’d gone back in time. Yeah, right.

Denny and Marilyn were walking toward the car. You gotta be kidding It looked like Marilyn was wearing purple satin drapes.
I got out so she could slide in next to Denny. Facetiously I said, “You look great.”
She said, “Thanks. You look nice too, in your brand new one button roll suit; but you have it buttoned wrong.” She rebuttoned my coat.
Denny got in the car, “Let’s make like Hank Snow and get movin’ on.”

I had reached the point that I was afraid to say anything. This was all too bizarre.

A few minutes later we were parked in front of Demi’s house. I sat there a moment, till Marilyn said, “You had better go get her or we’ll be late.”

I climbed out of the car and closed my eyes. Then I opened them - nothing had changed.
