Why Fungi are the Nicest People
The three types of organisms are producers, consumers, and decomposers. The producers (plants) get their energy from the sun. The consumers (animals) get theirs from eating other organisms. Decomposers (fungi) get theirs from the raw materials in the ground and then they put them back into the the environment. In my opinion, it is demeaning to be a consumer. We can not think of our own way to get energy, so we get it from other organisms. At one point, I thought of calling this “Why Plants are the Nicest People,” but then I thought, “when producers get their energy, their done with it and they don’t use it again.” Then I noticed that fungi are like recyclers. They only use the old raw materials in the environment, use it, and put it back as a useable material. This has just been something on my mind since fourth period science when we were learning about food chains.
