Wishing For You at the Beach
I sat where the ocean meets the beach.
Watching the colors of the sunset
Reflect on the water
Like the boats that seem just beyond my reach.
The water tickles my bare feet
As crabs scurryed away to their sandy caves.
The stars peek behind the clouds
Meanwhile, the ocean rythmically keeps a beat.
It’s at this time, as the seagulls caw
That I imagine you’re sitting with me.
So you could hear the seagulls
and see all that I now saw.
But I know that won’t be.
It’d be an honest miracle.
But I still wish and dream
Because to my life, you’re the key.
To my survival and my heart.
I’d rather have you any day
Than this sand and surf.
I’d rather you be here holding me
as we listen to the palms quietly sway.
No.
Never
will it be.
Never will my
soul be complete.
Without you at the beach.
