They looked at each other, as if they were having a silent conversation. Voices? Where’d that come from?
I didn’t know anything about these voices.
And how did the woman know about it, just by looking behind his ear? Was it the smeared blood, or was it something else…
The man, leaning against the tree, looked as if he were about to fall asleep. His eyes had regained their color, and the flow of blood from his ears had mostly stopped, but the overwhelming amount of blood already on and around him made me want to throw up.
I coughed a little bit, and they immediately snapped their gazes up to look at me. “Would you mind explaining now?” I said.
“Okay,” said the woman. “I just hope you’ll be able to believe it. I didn’t know there were so many others like this.. I mean I knew there were some, but not..” She shook her head in astonishment. “You don’t understand any of it. Look, I’ll just start at the beginning.”
