Eros and Psyche 7 - the Decision

Psyche’s heart had been wrenched from her chest. She crumpled to the floor, sobbing. Why did I listen to my evil sisters?

That night at dinner, Psyche’s sisters had gotten extremely envious. Why was it fair that the youngest should live in a palace accessible only to the West Wind? they asked. So they convinced her to look at him. The very thing, the only thing, that Love had forbidden in their relationship. Look at him, and murder him. Keep the riches for herself (and of course bestow some upon her sisters.)

Psyche had listened, like a fool. She had let her head fill with the stories of the vicious serpent that was sleeping with her every night. She had believed them, the lying, deceitful creatures. And now she was paying for it.

Psyche sat up abruptly and straightened her shift. She knew what she needed to do.
