One Night (500 Ficlets challenge)
I hate walking home alone. I shiver and pull my coat tighter around me with a grimace. It isnt cold exactly…there is just something odd about tonight.
i cant believe that he forgot again i think bitterly, refering to my father who, provided he hadnt suddenly had some unexpected change in his lifes mission, is probably at home online looking for car parts for his latest restoration project. I am so absorbed in my thoughts that i dont really know when the footsteps behind me begin. I know better to look so i speed up, hearing, to my dismay, the footsteps behind me quicken. I begin to run and in a few minutes the sound of the footsteps disappear. Breathing a sigh of relief, i glance behind me seeing nothing but an empty street. Nothing at all.
As soon as i turn back around, a terrible pain erupts on my neck as something breaks the skin. I fall in shock, looking, trying to see what my odd assailant looks like. All i see is a gaping mouth with sharp teeth and a bright tounge, thirsting for my blood.
