The 13th Curse part 4

Walking in, I was greeted by none other than Vanessa, my best friend, who’s a little too perky when it comes to special events. Her eyes glowed emerald whenever she smiled. Her hair was in a tight ponytail. I smiled weakly at her as she embraced me in her perfect arms. I hated perfection. It makes me feel like I’m not meant to be in a certain place. But, of course, when it comes to Van’s sweet talk, she’s a good friend to be with.
“Happy Birthday Natasha!â€? she sang. Vanessa dreams to sing. Not for a living, just to sing for her happiness. I promised her in third grade that I will always be there for her with every song she writes. Man, I wish I were that reliable, like I was when I was eight.
“Shut up, Van!â€? I hissed, covering her mouth with my other hand, the one that’s still in one piece. I absolutely hated being in the center of attention. “Please, not today. I’m in a terrible mood right now, you know.â€?
