boots.
I heard someone knocking at my door. “Come in,â? I said.
There was a click, and then I heard whoever it was in my room walk up to my bed. I assumed it was a man; the footsteps were heavy, which usually meant the thick work boots men wore during the day.
He turned off my radio.
“Who is it?â? I asked.
“Dr. Karon.â?
Karon? The name almost made me laugh. Karon was a girl’s name, wasn’t it? This was definitely a man. But a doctor? Not another doctor. I hated doctors- all they did was make me take examinations and finish pointless tests.
It was obvious; I mean, how much does it take to know that someone is blind?
“What is it you want?â?
“Well,â? he began, taking a sharp breath, “there’s actually something we discovered about your… condition.â?
He paused, waiting for a response.
“Which is..?â?
“There’s some new technology that might be able to fix it. Nothing painful, I promise. You could get to see.â?
