“How should I know?!â€? The boy replied, “I was just walking through town when those two showed up and grabbed me. I ran for it and they’ve been following me since then,â€? he explained.

They both disappeared, veering invisibly off to the left. The two men came to a halt, not knowing where the youths had gone. Melody and the boy could still see each other, in a sort of mirror world of the regular one. The mirror world was much slower than the real world, which is why they moved so much faster when cloaked by their abilities.
