The love that didn't last
‘Twas a bright, sunny day
When they first met
She was brilliant, divine
He began to sweat
It was love at first sight
Their souls seemed to click
They intertwined and burned together
Like the threads of a wick
Shortly after
Their love began
Disaster struck
The young, smitten man
His lover who seemed so fragile
Met her predetermined end
For she already had a contract
With no room to bend
It wasn’t until
She was gone forever
That she told her story
In a letter:
“I’m deathly ill
But do not fret
For I’m greatly fortunate
It was you that I met.
I laughed, I loved
Even though I knew
That I would soon lose
All my time with you
But I do not regret
Spending my last day with you
And I thank you greatly
For your love was true”
