For Poetry
I cross out these lines
Of argumentative and disproportional lyrics
That only signal half of the heart I have
One issue, one mind set
I can’t help, but to think of rhymes
It’s what I do
I put my pen to paper
And recite words of thought
Demanding of my heart
You read and you don’t
I listen and record
The sound that beats in my chest
If only for the moment that is satisfying
So I write
Write ideas, thoughts, and figures
Write stories, opinions, and feelings
I write for the hope of saving
Not only you, but myself
I write and write and write
For poetry is the beauty of mankind
Poetry is the love of a man and wife
Poetry is the essence of hope
Poetry is everyone and everything
Poetry is whatever I want it to be
