The Door in the Attic
“I’m not seeing it Katie, are you sure your parents hide your presents up here?” Judith called from the top of the ladder.
“Um, I should know my parents. Just get up in there, you’ll find’em!”
Judith hesitantly took the last step into the attic when the ladder shot up underneath here, folding neatly into the attic floor.
“Katie! This isn’t funny Katie!
“We find it hilarious,” laughed a voice from below, “We’ll be at the mall, my parents come home at 8. Bye-bye!”
There was a sound of feet on stairs, then of Katie’s front door. Judith’s eyes teared up as she realized the truth. Once again, her “friends” she struggled to hang out with had made a fool of her again. “Why do I even try?” she asked her self laying down on the rafters.
An hour had passed when an eriee creaking noise sprung Judith from her sad day dreams. She sat up, scanning the dark room. There on the far wall was a silver door outlined with a golden glow. Its metal hinges squealed as it opened. Judith got to her feet.
