The Wise Ones Up Above Part Two

To the free bird
the explorer replied
with pomp and ceremony
I’m a great man
all men know this
I deserve for that from thee.

I think not,
the crone replied
and taunting like a jay
she knocked him off
his tenuous perch
and down towards hell all grey.

Let this be warning
the explorer said,
as he quickly fell,
I’ll return and then
you both will know
just who you should quickly tell.

The free bird laughed
a jeering sound,
and flew on down to where
he kicked in fury
and screamed in terror
and fell through the howling air.

Let this be said,
the old crone called
and the explorer heard too late,
in the afterlife
past lives are gone
your modesty is your fate.
