This is great advice. It’s like any other art form: you must exaggerate your feelings so as to make sure your audience really gets that emotion.

Writing about what you know is not an easy answer to writing. Writing about what you feel I think is a better guide line because most people really do not know what they know. However, they know what they feel. Readers can feel truth no matter how complex or simple.
