Nicely written. In my opinion the sentence “As the sun set…” could be deleted without damaging the story. To me it just sort of sticks out. But, very good discriptive writing.

Reminds me of that horrible Stephen King movie that came out a couple years ago. Not the horrible part, but the mist part.
