Goodbye
She could’ve been more supportive.
I climbed up the stairs and into my room, slamming the door behind me.
I can’t wait to get out of this place.
In fact, why don’t I just get out now?
Great idea. Superb. Like anyone would miss me anyways. Besides, I don’t have any future here.
Neither does my baby.
My baby. It sounded so strange.
I grabbed my duffel from under my bed, brushing off the dust. I pulled out some clothes and slipped on my sneakers, tying the laces much tighter than needed.
Oh, stop venting on the shoes.
I sighed angrily, stuffing my journal and pens to the bottom of my bag.
I sneaked out the door and down the hallway to Charlie’s room. Behind his bookcase… Ah ha. I pulled out the sack of twenties and shoved it in, too.
Kaitlyn’s face flashed through my mind, sad and bewildered by my anger. I sighed, this time calmer. It wasn’t her fault, I guess.
No time.
I scribbled a quick note to Charlie, saying I’d be back soon. I just needed some space.
Goodbye.
