14: The Ricochet's Prey
That night the crew slept, and the next morning, Captain Ronald and Greg Piles patched up the hole in the quarters.
“Captain, are we anywhere near land?”
“About a day, why?”
“Well, no offense, but after last nights events, my wife Kathrine would just like to find an airport to get home.”
“Right, I understand.”
“So it looks like the Red Bell won’t be going after that thunder hawk.”
“Nope. We’ll refuel on land then just head back home.”
A day later the Red Bell reached land, refueled, and left the Piles. 268 miles back, Captain Rainsford’s activated homing device began beeping wildly as a black Jet Assisted Blimp nearly 6 times the size of the Red Bell hovered towards Rainsford’s inflatable raft. Ladders were let down and he was brought aboard. After he was given water and food, the 2nd in command of the “Ricochet” sat next to the healing captain.
“Did, you see which way they went?”
“They were heading east.”
“We will find them sir. They will suffer.”
