Excavation: Earth -- Sustenance
“What is this?” the commander asked, his fingers reaching towards the object that Malek held in his hands, the substance coming away sticky against his digits, his tongue sliding out of his mask to flicker against the food substance, his face a mask of confusion.
“These seemed to be mass produced. We believe they may have been a source of nutrition.” A smaller, female scientist chirped, her pink skin vibrant against the dust covered shelves of the strange cement blocked building they had discovered, their hands reaching out to touch the rusted structures, the building protected by massive alloy girders that prevented it from being crushed during the collapse of nearby structures.
“Is it safe?” Malek asked, his brow lifted up in query.
“They seem to have had expiration dates, but these are perfectly safe to eat.”
Each cadet reached out for one eagerly, the alien cuisine dissapearing through the gaps in masks, their faces lighting up delightfully.
“It’s called a…twinkie sir.”
