Through the Snowy Wonder
As I walked through the door, a hazy smoke swirled around my eyes. I followed its source, which was a burning incense held in an ivory holder. The floor creaked as I ducked my head through the hallway. I was lead to a small room, and as I peered in through the beaded curtain, I saw her.
She sat in a wicker chair with her hair in a bun. My watch read 3:53AM, but she told me she only works when the moon is out. I didn’t mind; I’m always up at this hour.
She gazed in my eyes for a few minutes. She told me she saw crashing waves. Snowflakes. Wind. I asked her what it all meant. She told me no answer would make sense right now.
As I rose from my old wooden chair, she tilted her head in thought. I did not say anything, just waited. She broke the silence with a simple statement; “Answer the Call”. I returned her stare for a moment, and walked out the door.
Snowflakes began to fall in my hair as I walked home. My thoughts were filled with wonder. And in my pocket, my phone started to ring.
