“Hey, I called you last night, where were you?” He spoke softly into the receiver.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to stand you up, something just happend.” she said with a quivering voice.
” Oh, honey, is everything alright? Do you need me to do anything for you?” He said with a startled yet very comforting voice.
“NO! I mean, i’m fine just I just forgot to tell my mom that I couldn’t make it to dinner and that I was going to go out with you, but she told me that I had stay and visit for a while.” She said with what she hoped was a convincing voice.
” Oh, okay, well you want to hang tonight?” he had said.
“Um, I can’t i have other plans, but maybe soon.” She said almost feeling disapointed with herself for lying to him.

Why did I have to be so stupid? She thought to herself. Why couldn’t I have just said no. I don’t want to hurt him, but last night just felt soo, well, good.
