Crawling in the Night
It was close to two in the morning, as far as Reid could tell from behind the chipped glass on the clock that hung above the door. Reid looked around the smoke filled pub. He was unable to figure out what he was looking for. He didn’t know, nor did he understand. Reid closed his eyes, ignoring the flickering neon sign that had become obnoxious enough to forget about.
Reid ascended the stairs of the pub that led into the the hazy streets and the swift chill of the night air. People lingered on the sidewalks , standing outside well lit pubs and night clubs, smoking, laughing, and above all…living. The blur of the neon night life was a daunting aspect if you faced it alone. Reid could only stagger wildly into the street.
Nice, safe street…you’ll save me.
