The letter
Eva hadn’t grabbed her mail in several days. She had been busy or had her hands full every time she’d walked past the boxes. So when she did open it she wasn’t surprised to find it stuffed. She hauled her mail out and carried it up 3 flights of stairs. She dropped it on her futon, waking Princess who had been sleeping.
“Sorry, girl.”
Eva began going through it, bills, junk, bank statements, but a light blue envelope caught her eye. It was addressed to Lucas. Lucas? Everybody called him Luke. No return address. Most of Luke’s mail was junk, but she was intrigued.
Eva pulled out a heavy piece of paper with company letterhead.
Lucas Miller: We have tried to be reasonable, but you leave us very little choice. Return the disk now or we will be forced to take action. Sincerely, Fredrick Oscal CEO OscOil Corp.
The CEO had threatened Luke? Over some disk? The letter was dated April 22, 5 weeks ago. Luke had left 4 weeks ago. Eva turned the envelope over. The postmark was April 24. Why was she just getting it now?
