The Green Couch

The green couch, where he spent most of his day, was situated in the front room, adjacent a narrow hallway that led to a small bedroom that acted as storage for garbage and accumulated stench.

Friedrich walked the distance of the apartment twice, searching for something to wear, only to find that most of his clothing was hidden underneath the couch in dusty piles.

After many days of solitude in the darkness, Friedrich had forgotten what season it was, or day for that matter and was unsure how to properly dress for the weather.

He pulled a pair of wrinkled black trousers over his boxer shorts, and tugged at the sleeves of a black button down shirt that smelled ripe with the pungent scent of red wine that he never attempted to wash off.

Friedrich found his shoes, to his suprise, under a pile of dishes in the sink that he never cleaned, and his jacket slumped over the drainpipe in the cupboard under the sink.
He slowly pulled on the shoes as he leaned against the blood stained walls…
