Common Place
Eyes so sullen,
a face burdened,
I try to carry on,
my hopes have fallen,
I don’t need this,
despair is what has dawned.
I’m so ready to run away,
afraid of what might be,
safety so far in the distance,
a million miles away from me,
frantic and so in fear,
I play out a shameful rue,
blaming it on something else,
this is what I do.
He buys it and sends me on my way,
I take his advice and run,
I’ve been really lucky today,
I’ll never do this ever again, I promise, I’m through, I’m done.
