Teach me to Live [8]
Christine sent her husband out for some ice, since they were running low and she got a jump-start on the dishes. Or at least, what would’ve been a jump-start. Only she didn’t make it through her first dish. Her tired body seemed to give out, leaving Ritchie and his dad on their own, forever.
As Ritchie sat on the couch in the living room with his dad, waiting for the paramedics to come, there seemed to be a weightful silence surrounding them. Ritchie was spent and his dad simply did not know what to say. They both seemed to drift off into different ways. They rode in the ambulance all the way to the hospital. Ritchie put his head in his hands and though he could not cry anymore, he felt something in his heart. Like a little hole had been drilled from his mother’s death. His father prayed that somehow she would come back. It didn’t happen. When they arrived at the hospital, she was carried straight to the morgue and declared deceased.
