Disk Death
The sun set hours ago, but it was still light. But then again, it was always light on Disk. Though, it was barely enough light to allow me to travel across the pastures without breaking a leg in a gopher hole.
All this started when my brother, Mykll, asked me what the world looked like.
I said, “It looks like a giant wheel with a hole in the center that the sun move through to make day and night.”
Mykll said, “Denyan, a disk like that would need to have two sides, and you mean to tell me that there is only one side to the world?”
“No,” I said, “I said that it was a disk, I do believe that there is another side, and that people inhabit it.”
“I want to go see the other side.” He said.
I couldn’t believe what he wanted to do and tried to talk him out of it, but what Mykll wants, Mykll gets. The bad thing is that I was charged with being second in command of the mission.
The mission ended about 15 feet down, when a giant boulder fell out of the side of the shaft and killed Mykll.
Good riddance.
