Trip Shakespeare: A relationship

Up above our nation,
there’s a field of stars.
I know you want to fly there,
So you search the neighborhood bar, you try to be gentle
with the mortal men we are.
Look at you, lonely lady.
Tired of the nightclub yet?

Your mouth is my apartment
in the evening. I sleep
in a ruby dark bed. I work
in the flames; No love shines down.

When you lay your hand
down on my side, and
my veins are filled with a bracing wine,
then we lay in a stained glass
colorful light. You know
you own me while you live.

In the days when I had a job,
I got pretty good pay. Oh listen,
but don’t listen to me.
You could lose your luck
with a drummer like me.

I’m a helper to my own fate;
I’ve come to help you move.
And if you think you have enough
space, I’d move in with you.

If you miss me,
and you want to cry,
I would want to die,
and fly across the stars
until I’m home.
For I would rather rise up
from a world of darkness
than know that you’re unhappy
and alone.
